Info - Archival Prints and Materials

The right choice of materials from the start goes a long way toward making color photographs more durable. The photographer who intends his or her work to last should make every effort to pick the most durable media possible. Of course, when you are acquiring photographs for a collection that choice is not yours to make. You can only endeavor to find the photographer who was conscientious enough to make the best choices for you.

We currently use some of the most dimensionally stable print materials on the market, traditional Ilfochrome and digital materials with a similar life to Ilfochrome (IlfoFlex, Fuji Crystal Archive, Premium Lustre, etc.).

Ilfochrome is unique, because - unlike the more common method of forming dyes from color couplers during processing - when manufactured, it has stable dyes incorporated into the emulsion coated onto an opaque white polyester base 7 mils (.007 inch) thick. Ilfochrome is what is known technically as a silver dye bleach material. Processing simply removes unwanted color from the emulsion through a bleaching process. The process produces a print that excels in sharpness, color saturation and permanence.

IlfoFlex, Premium Lustre and other digital media are similar-in-appearance, glossy paper used with digital laser light or large format ink jet printing that maintain a higher degree of sharpness than conventional printing. The digital process is used only to allow for larger prints and is never used to manipulate the image. All materials used in digital printing are rated comparably to Ilfochrome for print life (or longer).

We believe that you, as the art buyer, deserve a product that will endure the test of time and, as such, we endeavor to provide an image that will last a lifetime.  All of the items above, plus normal shipping and handling to anyplace in North America (shipping outside of North America is available at actual cost), are included in the pricing noted throughout this web site.

Bio - Lonnie and Mary Brock - Nature Photographers

Lonnie and Mary travel throughout the West applying their background and love for the outdoor world to focus most of their work on nature itself. Their images are not intended to be travel documentary, but rather carefully composed works of art with the final goal of bringing the excitement felt by the photographer to the viewer. The vitality of the visual experience and intense emotions of the scene are captured on film in many forms - from grand vistas to isolated subjects to abstract renditions. Lonnie and Mary hope their images have an impact on how you see our natural world.
